milk woman and the name

Posted on Jul 12th, 2006 by sanmugan : Seeker of truth sanmugan

One of the famous stories narrated by the famous Bhagavan Ramakrishna Paramahansa.

One milk woman used to supply cow milk to a yogi daily at the specified time. One day this woman was unable to bring the milk across the river as it was overflowing by floods. She was on the other side of the river and was unable to cross it. Yogi saw this and called her to repeat the name of the god and to cross the river. She did so accordingly without any fear or disturbance. Yogi was surprised, this time started to repeat the name of the god and tried to cross the same river, alas, and he drowned in it. Why, milk woman trusted the name but the yogi did not.
